In search of truth

Posted by Gianluca Attanasio on 16 July 2009 ·

The strength of Christianity is that it’s about friendship. That’s why ever since I entered seminary (and even today as Rector of our seminary in Rome), I have always been struck by the fact that Fr. Massimo values the friendship that flourishes among us. He has always said that our friendship is a gift to be shared with everyone. His greatest strength, however, is that he has never been afraid to tell us what needs to improve and to be a necessary source of correction. If we are together it is not to share “feelings” but to seek the truth. That means seeking the only truth: the conversion of our lives to Christ. Fr. Massimo guides us as only a true father can.
Today as I look back upon my life, I can’t help but thank him for having treated us this way, since I now find myself having to care for so many young men preparing for the sacramental priesthood.
Finally, I thank God for this Fraternity. In the final analysis, I must say that I don’t think anyone can face his own sins alone.
